It was a pleasure to be asked to moderate THE DGA’s DDI Craft Workshop: “How to Facilitate Inclusion on Set” that included the incredibly talented Olatunde Osunsanmi (Star Trek: Discovery), Silas Howard (Transparent), Nandi Bowe (Do The Right Thing), and Shawn Pipkin-West (Mufasa: The Lion King). Their experience, wisdom, and candor made for a powerful conversation on what real inclusion looks like behind—and beyond—the camera.
DGA Asian American 25th Anniversary Highlight Reel
I am incredibly proud that THE SCARECROW was included in the highlight reel (edited by Connor Cooper) amongst some talented filmmakers and their films. Thanks to my fellow Asian Americans involved, Sandra Oh and Alexander Guder.
Reclaiming my name
It was the 90s. Being a pop star in outer space was more believable than being Pakistani in Hollywood. Really enjoyed talking to Sarah Anwer Khan for 1497org.
DGA TV Mentorship Program: Thrilled to be included!
DGA Workshop
In my happy place directing some fine actors at the DGA Workshop led by maestras Bethany Rooney and Mary Lou Belli.
Explaining the state of television
I thought this was an interesting overview of the current state of the television industry, in this case specific to the UK but translating to the US. The stats and timeline on the transition to digital are fascinating. From the BBC’s Ros Atkins at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF
We just closed our sold-out run directing Tennessee Williams’ CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF at The Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. It was one of my favorite creative collaborations with the talented Bridget Regan and Travis Van Winkle. Thanks to them for honoring the process and the work and to all the crew for helping with this impassioned poetic play. It was a very special time.
Teaser coming soon.
